Information for Parents
We ensure the content of the curriculum includes social and emotional aspects of learning and that child protection is included in the curriculum (including online) to help children stay safe, recognise when they don’t feel safe and identify who they might/can talk to.
We provide a curriculum that will help to equip our children with the skills they need including materials and learning experiences that will encourage them to develop essential life skills and protective behaviours.
The HRSE curriculum will include elements of how children can recognise different risks in different situations and how to behave in response. It will equip children with the skills needed to keep themselves safe and empower them to feel safe.
All our staff recognise the important role they play in protecting children and promoting their wellbeing. School staff are particularly important in a child’s life as they are in a position to identify concerns early, provide help for children, promote children’s welfare and prevent concerns from escalating.
There are many ways we can support those children and families who may benefit from intervention from adults who already work in school and/or through the support of external professionals; we will seek to enable referrals (in discussion with parents) as appropriate.
Our School recognises and is committed to its responsibility to work with other professionals and agencies both to ensure children’s needs are met as well as to protect them from harm.
